Atopic dermatitis is not giving up on me. Sometimes, when you start to suffer from eczema as a kid, you can fight this battle. But when eczema attack when you are a grown-up it is hard to get better for good. This is what happened to me – atopic dermatitis started when I was eighteen. What is atopic dermatitis?

Atopic dermatitis is like eczema. According to Wikipedia it is ‘also known as atopic eczema, is a long-term type of inflammation of the skin (dermatitis). It results in itchy, red, swollen, and cracked skin. Clear fluid may come from the affected areas, which often thickens over time. While the condition may occur at any age, it typically starts in childhood, with changing severity over the years.’

Skin with eczema 

I wrote a lot about skincare. Skincare is the most important when you struggle with eczema. Your skin need it all the time – moisturise, nourish and care. I am from Europe, Poland and for the first time I’ve met CeraVe in US. Four years ago it was not available in Europe yet. How to take care of atopic skin?

Under the shower I am using also a natural-made sponge which helps to exfoliate and protects skin from inflammation. I use towel very gently, don’t rub my skin too much. What is the most important – you have to moisturise your skin right after getting out of a shower. Even if the skin is still damp, apply the balm right after.

While travelling the world I’ve noticed that my skin is better in a low humidity. When the air is dry (like Nevada or California) almost all of atopic symptoms disappears. But when I am in Poland – skin feels itchy and has a lot of breakouts. The best humidity for my atopic skin is 30%-40%. Of course you have to moisturise and nourish all the time, be very precise and systematic.

The most important rule when taking care about atopic skin is to exfoliate and to grease. Remember about it when taking care of eczema skin. Cuticle should be smooth and ready for moisturisers.
