TV Make-up for a book advertising spot – “Kuchenny Kredens”

Working on a film set is one of my favorite job. This time I met a great team at Panopticon Films during the project for Wydawnictwo Znak and Monika from Kuchenny Krednes. Monika is in my make-up ❤

TV make-up

The entertainment industries involved in producing and distributing movies need make-up artists who can deal with the TV make-up. The camera lens has no mercy, you need to look perfect. Sometimes a small, low-budget movie industry are not hiring the make-up artist. Because of that, the end result is always poor.
The TV make-up should matt the skin, cover the wrinkles, redness etc. It is a very tough make-up, but in front of the camera it looks very soft. The light is very important. I was writing about the light on the photo session in here.

Mat and cover

In the TV make-up everything can be ruined because of the stress and a light which increases the temperature. That’s why we need to do a few things in the make-up before we use the HD powders. The good idea is to wash the face with soap – it pull together your pores. You can use also a special preparation or cosmetic to do so. Use a make-up base and appropriate color of concealers and foundations.

Cover

The foundation covers not only the face but also shoulders, neck and ears. The people like presenters or celebrities often has a very elegance outfit so you need to be careful with the cosmetics.  Dermablend is a perfect foundation for the body and legs. It covers every wrinkles, tattoos, scars. Remember, that on the darker places on the body (ex, knees) you should apply the highlighter.

Eyes

Even the darkest eye shadows in front of the camera are pale. Things like brocade use very carefully, only in fashion make-up look, never in the business make-up.

Lips

Perfect are matte shadows. You need to check every pink color – don’t choose the one with a blue pigment in it. Don’t forget to do the make-up also for men!
Make-up can give you a lot of self-confidence in front of the camera, don’t be scared!

[Hot or Not] Love, Style, Life – Garance Dore

Where the make-up inspirations start? Lately I am reading a lot of books and trade magazines, not only watching the catwalk make-up. I decided to tell you about some of my recommendations and what is the best make-up inspiration for me. “Love, Style, Life” by Garance Dore is the book I loved.

What about the book?

The book has inspiring layout and is published with care and elegance. Inside there are not only the stylish illustrations but also a lot of practical information. You can see the “title inside” – everything is about fashion people, clothes, style, make-up… but there is also a lot of love and aiming the happiness.

Your style gives you power to communicate without words, so ask yourself – what do you know about you and your style? The same question goes with a make-up – if you know what you want to say, it is easier to fell self-confident. Inside the book you will find a lot of tips about the New York and Paris style.

Garance Dore is a very stylish woman, the beauty is relative so it is important who you are inside. Don’t judge book by its cover – okay, but if you are happy inside, you’ll be beautiful outside.

Sans elegance de coeur, il n’y a pas d’elegance – bez elegancji serca, elegancja nie istnieje.

Yves Saint Laurent

It is beautiful to be a woman, but you need to feel accomplish. Even the best make-up artist can’t hide your sadness or stress. Don’t try to be perfect, challenge yourself – try to accept your pros and coins. This practice makes you happy and naturally beautiful.

What about the make-up?

Eyebrows – well styled eyebrows could change the look of the face. Even the best make-up without eyebrows done well, is poor. Don’t forget about the brows!

Red lipstick – is your power. If you need to feel brave and full of energy – use a red lipstick. You can use it daily or only at weekends. Remember to choose the right shade! I was writing about it in here.

How to take a perfect photo – Everyone wants to look perfect when taking selfies, but sometimes you just don’t have “IT”. Garance gives you some simply tips: use natural light, make your skin look flawless and find your better profile!

Highly recommended!

I can recommend this book everyone, you need to finally find a time for yourself!

It surprises every day and you should be prepared for everything – in make-up as well. I have always with me the mattifying powder from INGLOT or Kryolan. In front of the camera the face needs to look bright but not be flash.

W epoce, kiedy jesteśmy zalewani kolejnymi kulinarnymi trendami, egzotycznymi i szalenie przepłaconymi produktami z najdalszych zakątków globu, dzięki Wydawnictwu Znak powstanie książka o kuchni domowej i jej historii. Takiej kuchni, jaką tworzyły pokolenia kobiet przed nami i z których doświadczenia my dzisiaj możemy i powinnyśmy czerpać. Które tak jak i my miały przecież takie same kulinarne dylematy i musiały dzień w dzień zachodzić w głowę co by tu ugotować, często z ograniczonych przecież zasobów.

ABC of Beauty Make-up

How to create the perfect beauty make-up? What’s the difference between the classical, daily make-up and this one? Does everything needs to be perfect? Check out my new project: my make-up looks photographed by Emil Kołodziej at Artystyczna Alternatywa. Read about the beauty tricks and the cooperation at the photo session.

Moodboard & team

Good idea goes first. Before shooting you need to create the plan of your make-up look, think about the ideas and prepare the moodboard. That’s a plan (presentation) where every artist meets his concept. The key for the perfect moodboard is… our creativity!

We are as good as the people who we work with. It’s very important to find a perfect team for the shooting. The make-up artist should choose the model with a perfect face and flawless skin, wonder about the photographer who is best in beauty photos. Discuss the ideas with the stylist and the hairstylist to find the best results.

The beauty make-up

Beauty make-up is very characteristic. It’s not daily or a stage make-up. You need to use a professional cosmetics, which should be selected for the skin tone. Photographic make-up should be more expressive, foundation needs to be fully covering. You can spread this one on the shoulders, neck, cleavage and every visible part of the skin (ex. hands when american frame). The flash makes colors more pale, so you can chose the intensive colors for the eye shadows and a little bit darker foundation. Don’t forget about the powder and setting spray, but remember that skin should stay as natural as it is. Watch out with the blush, be precise, because the lens has no mercy. Perfect for the eye will be matte eye shadows with a perfect blend. For the lips always use a lip liner and meld it with the lipstick. Don’t forget about the face contouring (you can do it with the marvelous Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit). Before shooting discuss with the photographer which places on the face should stay sparkly or glow (you put highlighter, brocade, glitter or others) because the light on this places needs to be aimed very precise.

Set-up & the light

The make-up artist needs to discuss with the photographer: the light, set-up the model and other details. It is used to set the white or grey background for the beauty photos, normally with the one or two light source. The make-up artist should be present for the photo shooting, sometimes operate the blende for avoid the shadows on the model’s face. Before shooting choose the light: soft or heavy light. It’s perfect when the photographer stick the camera with the computer – you can see the pictures on-line.

Retouch

You will get the perfect end result when you discuss the retouch with the photographer. The final treatment should be precise, because the photos are often close-ups. Make-up trends shows, that the face should be natural, glam and detailed, so the retouch should be soft and don’t give “plastic skin” effect. Good luck!
